Sudanese forces pull out of Abyei (AP)

Internally-displaced people flee after heavy gunfire broke out in Damazin in the Blue Nile state September 7, 2011. The United States on Wednesday urged Sudan and armed opposition groups to end fighting in the Blue Nile border state and warned Khartoum the violence was hurting its chances of repairing relations with Washington. At least 50,000 people fled the clashes that erupted in Blue Nile last week, the U.N. said.
